Because he buys the model of a boat called the Unicorn, Tintin, the young reporter, finds itself drawn away in a fantastic adventure in search of a fabulous secret. By investigating an old mystery of several centuries, he upsets the plans of Ivan Ivanovitch Sakharine, a diabolic man persuaded that Tintin stole a treasure in touch with a pirate named Rackham the Red. With the help of Milou, its faithful small white dog, of the captain Smoked haddock, a sea dog with the bad character, and of two clumsy policemen, Dupond and Dupont, Tintin is going to go through the half of the planet, and try to prove to be more clever and to be quicker than its enemies, all thrown in this running in treasure in search of a wreck gulped down which seems to conceal the key of a huge destiny … and a formidable curse. Of the open sea in sands of the deserts of Africa, Tintin and its friends are going to confront thousand obstacles, risk their life, and prove that when they are ready to take all risks, nothing can stop you ….Tintin and his friends discover directions to a sunken ship commanded by Capt. Haddock's ancestor and go off on a treasure hunt.

Taken out event if he is, The Adventures of Tintin there: the secret of the Unicorn crystallises for weeks the attention of media as much as that of the consumer who, of quick restoration in the industry of the car, doesn't cease being attracted by an interfering communication. His presentation in fanfare as the European tour of all team underline a lot of concerns. Since the acquisition by Spielberg of rights in 1981 (at the time of the launching of Indiana Jones), the public jumps up and down. Waiting is greeted by this first opus today (of a triptych) offered prioritairement in the countries where saga commercially best walked: that is to say in France and in Belgium. Sa présentation en fanfare comme la tournée européenne de toute l’équipe soulignent bien des inquiétudes. Depuis l’acquisition par Spielberg des droits en 1981 (à l’époque du lancement d’Indiana Jones), le public trépigne. L’attente est aujourd’hui saluée par ce premier opus (d’un triptyque) proposé prioritairement dans les pays où la saga a commercialement le mieux marché : c'est-à-dire en France et en Belgique.
This European launching represents, no doubt, a ski jump for a decisive exit in the United States for Christmas. Bet isn't really earned yet for the film director. Tintin is an ageing character of comic strips (is it for it that Universal rejected plan?). Very few young people know the famous reporter (pronounce "Tine-Tine" in English). Since its emergence at the end of the fifties on the American soil, the adventures of the Belgian reporter interest only an elite of the society. For example, combined sales represent 120 million albums in France. In the United States, 4 millions only!
200 million budgets production, more 100 million promotions, Paramount and Sony put the bar very high. Cast on about 700 French screens, will this first Tintin linking Spielberg and Jackson succeed in filling up adherents and neophytes? First of all, the coherent woof is that of the Secret of the Unicorn (eleventh title edited in colour in 1943), but many the small details extracted from previous albums are to make their intrusion in the film (Crabs in gold pliers notably). The transposition of the paper on the screen suffers from no idle time: rhythm is quick, or even gasping. Additions denature original work in no way. From the opening, the spectator feels as caught, finding the adventurous atmosphere of Hergé (suspense and waterfalls follow our heroes of the ocean in the desert). Side first feeling, they walk therefore to 100 %. Technical technique used (motion captures) cheek always with the perception of the public: between animation and realism. Good point for the film director: general mind was preserved.
On the contrary, the 3D is strictly of no use – if it isn't to discourage piracy (the film is offered so there 2D). Farther, some aesthetically fabulous plans can't kerbs the aftertaste of disappointment which glides over the film. As atmosphere is achieved, as characters appear cold. Everything is summed up in their lifeless look, sometimes literally inexpressive, what contrasts with the attention carried to colours. Humour is moreover very distant (confined in Dupont and Dupond backed up by a Smoked haddock more fatuous than ever). A lot of dialogues remain useless. So, final feeling approaches that of an empty shell, of a work a little dashed off by a film-maker in the surbooké agenda. The aficionados won't excuse any escalations; all the same, speaking spectaculairement, this Unicorn constitutes the family exit par excellence.
