Since his wife was victim of burns in a car accident, the doctor Robert Ledgard, distinguished aesthetic surgeon, dedicates himself to the creation of a new skin, thanks to whom he would have been able to save his wife. Twelve years after drama, it succeeds in its laboratory deprived to cultivate this skin: sensitive to caresses, she constitutes nevertheless a true breast-plate against any attack, so external as internal, victim of which is the most sprawling organ of our body. The Skin I Live In (Spanish: La piel que habito) is a 2011 Spanish film directed by Pedro Almodóvar, starring Antonio Banderas, Elena Anaya, Marisa Paredes, Jan Cornet, Roberto Álamo and Blanca Suárez, and is loosely based on Thierry Jonquet's novel Tarantula. The film was the first collaboration in 21 years between Almodóvar and his former regular cast member Banderas. The film premiered in May 2011 in competition at the 64th Cannes Film Festival.
